Keeley Compressors-Anyone use them?

I've been checking them out after using one one night. It was the 4 knober and I was impressed with how it made my LP sound. The 2 knobers seem to be popular too. Is it worth the extra $ for the 4 knober?
I'm hoping someone has either and can give me some experenced input.

Thanks

Dylumph!

Keeley Compressor

I had the 4 knob version and thought it was great. If I'm not mistaken the two knob version is the same but the trip pots are on the inside of the pedal. I use to move all 4 knobs around allot so I think it is very practical to have them all on the outside. I ended up selling mine for a Pine Green Compressor and really miss the sustain the Keeley had, but also love the PGC.

Thanks, I'm leaning toward the 4 knob. Does your 69 LP have P-90s? I have a R6 along with several HB lps and I can't imagine the tone I might get out of those P-90s with this compressor.

I have the two knob version that I use with all types of electric (HB & P90 Les Paul, Strats & Teles) It works great. The 4 knob didn't exist when I bought mine. If it had I would have bought that just for the extra flexibility (plus the difference in cash isn't huge). If you are buying new or can find a used 4 knob (kind of rare) go with that. 767400 I would be curious to hear your comparison on the tone of the Keeley vs the PGC (thinking about getting one of those).

Straight Apples to apples comparison. The Keeley had the best sustain I have ever heard. Beano like. I really loved that. But with that sustain comes a pronounced hiss. You don't notice it while playing, just when you stop. The Pine Green Compressor has a wonderful subtlety to its compression. It doesn't squash the notes, it just evens them out nicely. I also enjoy the BODY setting on the PGC. You can really shape the sound for a variety of playing. Booming bass to clear highs. In my humble opinion I think Bjorn is a effects genius.

i have the 4 knob version and i always leave the two extra knobs on the fixed position (same as 2 knob). However, if you want to mess with the attack (a very specific type of compression), or use the compressor with active pickups or acoustics with built-in preamps, than the two extra knobs come in handy.
