Zoom G1.2U
Any feedback?
I'm looking for something somewhat easy to use to lay down very basic guitar recordings. Nothing fancy, just wanting to get some sound from my guitars to my laptop. Thanks! |

I cant seem to find any info though Google on the Zoom G1.2U however I am sure the product would work well for you if you are willing to spend money on it.
Another way to go with the line6 Toneports. They are not great and the whole amp modeling software doesn't sound well to my ears but they do work for ideas and a budget setup. As long as the zoom sends audio down the USB line it should work for you. |

Thanks. I'm an idiot. It's the G2.1U, not the G1.2U.

The ZOOM G2.1u is pretty decent way to get guitar into the PC through USB. ZOom is the only guitar processor company that i am aware of that used a 32 bit processor and 24/96 in out. This makes the models more believable with a pretty decent noise floor. the FX are impressive as well as the models for a stand alone unit.
One thing i like about the G2.1u is you can use it stand alone with out PC which has its time and place over something like Toneport. ZOOM also has a PC interface option called ZFX which has some killer amp and FX models and a 12AX7 Tube pre amp to boot. I have an inexpensive Tube MIC/Intrument Pre amp from ART that cost me about $39. I use it to add a little tube warm in front of the G2.1u and also it give me a Mic Pre amp for vocals and acoustic guitar. All in all pretty flexible little package that can double as a live guitar processor and recording interface for guitar. |
