AxeFX Ultra - Snuff Flick

AxeFX Ultra - Snuff Flick

http://www.soundclick.com/util/getpl...d=7114141&q=hi

Every time I attempt this, I am constantly reminded how hard it is to write a good pop rock tune. This one is called “Snuff Flick” and all the guitars are the Axe FX Ultra, über-freak Marco Minnemann on drums, and me on everything else (unfortunately also on vocals). Guitar is EB MM Morse with DiMarzio Anniversary PAFs. Maybe a real singer will come along and save the song later. This will probably go on the next HWM album I’m writing for.

Fun song, strong tone, vocals are good, you don't need no stinking singer.

Loved it all - composing, storytelling, and tone - lotta ear candy - that blend of the crunch & clean on thise #9 chords is delicious

Reminds me of zappa meets Alice in chains at times !

'Sometimes i'm black sometimes i'm white. Sometimes i'm green when they shoot me at ni-ight'. Love the fact you manage to melt seamlessly together a really grungy pop thing with a Steely Dan vibe. Excellent. And as Geoff says a Zappa thing going on. And what's with needing a vocalist man!!?? It's all there.

Thanks for giving it a listen guys. I am a little hesitant to post this kind of thing here on the "fusion" page, but there is actually some stuff that just sort of happened somehow that does remind me of the Danny-ones now that you bring it to my attention, Mike.

I'm not sure I get the Zappa comment, Geoff, but that's good any day IMO.

Thanks John, and I really enjoyed helping my buddy lay down bass on that tune you did over the summer with Chris, "Ear to the Rail." I call it "eat a potato, wash your hands" - listen to the Indian singer again with that in mind.

Jack and Suproman, the Axe can really surprise you when you layer it correctly.

I thought it was great! Sounds like Lane Staley from AIC singing. Great tones.

I might be smokin' but I think I hear a faint remnant of
Max Webster in parts of the vocals. Very cool John!
I liked it and I don't normally like the type of music that
I thought it started out to be.
That last sentence proves I'm smokin'

I liked it John. This sounds like a Kings-X tune back in the day. It does sound like if Zappa were around, he might have walked into a Kings-X session and asked if he could throw down some words over a track. Anyway, that's how it comes across to me. Nice stuff.

Killin it! Just Killin it.

BUT!!!!

"Unfortunately also on vocals" MY ASS!!!!!

Your voice sounds perfect for this style.

Lets give em' a little more volume.

You ain't got nothing to worry about.

I love this direction/vibe

5 stars
