Thumbs up Wampler Super Plextortion

I've had the new Super Plex from Wampler pedals for a week now and.....

One of the rare winners out there.

I did change the IC to a TLO72 before I was happy. The stock LM833 didn't work for me. I think the weaker 72 has better sustain, mids and more natural EQ. (we must tweak. Thanks for the socket)

For reference I'm using a modded BSIAB2 as my main gain pedal and I love it with my rig. It sure sounds like the Plex is a refined version of the BSIAB2 using a IC and a single J201.

The difference :

The Plex has way more low end. ( in fact I'm changing the Bass pot to a audio taper. It comes on fast) And can sound like a 4x12 cab if you want. It has a Low, med and high gain switch, and a subtle highs switch.

The Plex does High, Med and Low gain very well. I think it's best (if there has to be one) is low gain. In low it's a great clean boost, It's free of pedal artifacts, it blooms, it takes other pedals stacked into it as well as any pedal I've heard. It can be used as a EQ after other pedals and it can be pushed into a great OD with the gain maxed.

The med gain is enough for me. When the gain is maxed it's equivelent to the BSIAB at about 11:00 - 12:00

In high gain it can sound like Med gain maxed but with more low end and bounce. Past noon it gets really hot. Thats more than I need.

In short, great pedal that does many things very, very well.

Telecasters into HRDX w/ vin 30 for reference.

Thanks for the feedback. Have one coming. I also like the small footprint which I need for my now crowded pedal board.
