Santana Tone "MAN"

I had a gig this past Saturday in San Francisco and had an opportunity to use a Carlos pre-owned Boogie with a killer altec and one of the first 10 K&M with a 2x12 tone tubby cab...the K&M did not have a model number...man the Santana tone was there 100%...phenomenal Santana tones...but unfortunately to get real true to that tone I had to turn the volume up witch I couln'd do in that gig so I didnt feel 100% confortable...the Santana tones die at low volumens with that gear...great gear for big stages. Great experince...

After using that gear it dawn on me that I'm actually getting 95%+ of those tones using just my Fuchs ODS100 with an Emi Delta Pro 12L...with low and laud volumns. Man!!! I'm stiking with my ODS!!!! It's more than close anough for those Santana tones.

Adios

I was listening to Mayall's Hard Road cd this morning. It was the first time in a while I had heard "The Supernatural." Damn, but Carlos got so much influence from that one song!

Ah yes, Mr Peter Green on guitar, a known and powerful influence on Mr Carlos S. And I would like to say on me, although I'm not a Santana-ish player at all.

And yes, a loud Boogie is a good Boogie... but we love what we have!

I was just watching a Herbie Hancock movie about the making of one of his albums and Santana was in part of it and it shows Carlos playing in the mixing room and sounding incredible! I've been a hugh fan of Santana and his tone since I was a young kid (about 40 years ago)!! He always had great tone even before we knew what tone was.

And oh, his chops aren't bad either!!!

Along with Black Magic Woman of course. Both just one small aspect of PG's playing and Carlos made a career out of it.
