So, what the final word on that new Jimi FUZZFACE?

It's almost Christmas an I been good - Really jonesin for a new toy, and this one's cheap & readily available.

Got a pile of fuzzes, but I can't say whether any of 'em have that *HolyGrail* BC108 Si tranny. Are these still gettin the love?

...Honeymoon must be over by now

Shops are open late tonight and I'm almost out the door to pick one up!

But I hate demo'ing pedals in the stores so I'm just looking for some last-minute opinions before I succumb to this G.A.S. attack..

Dang it all, gotta stop hangin around this place

I love mine, but it picks up FM with the volume on 0, but not at giigs gladly, only in my home. Really Nails a David Gilmour Meddle era tone.

OK then, 60strat!

Two seconds ago, I was typing about my Colorsound fuzzwah's knack for picking up radio stations on another FUZZ thread..

I'll take this as a sign from the nostalgia gods that it's time to take a trip back to the psychedelic era & return with a brand-spankin-new JH-F1!

I'll report back once I've had a chance to let the chips warm up (-20 here today!) and fall where they may.

And while I've always felt an affinity towards Sid, I've really admired what Dave can do with that 5 note blues scale...

so, here goes nuttin'!

It's AMAZING. I have used it on many gigs, recorded with it, and played it through a few amps so I can say with certainty - this is one KILLER pedal.

It was well designed and built beautifully. It 's EQ'd with a great midrange and a nice, nasty tone that works for rhythm AND lead. Very smooth, with enough ratty tone to be a nasty fuzz.

Many fuzzes are more tweakable etc etc - but this one is perfect out of the box AND ITS WELL PRICED! So happy they put this one out!

JH-F1 is one of those pedals that if you sell them you will end up buying again...

I used the original Dallas Arbiter FuzzFace in the 60s. Wish I had it now.

Speaking of fuzzes, back then there was a plug-in-the-guitar gizmo called a BossTone. I bought several of them cause they only lasted so long. They were cheap, rather noisy but Jesus Almighty, what a fat fat tone!! Everything else sounded buzzy next to this thing. I had always wished they had put that in a stomp box.

Hey, that was made by a company called Jordan - apparently it's what the Stones used for the main "Satisfaction" riff. There's a newer outfit called VoodooLabs, mainly known for their state-of-the-art pedal power supplies (PP2+), but they also do some nice 'clones' of classic effects, like Uni-Vibe, BOSS chorus, Octavia, Tubescreamer etc. Their first pedal was a copy of the Bosstone, but designed to sit on the floor like a regular stomp box. They're discontinued, but I'll bet you could find one on eBay.

I really, really like mine. I wouldn't say it's the best fuzz in the world but, it does the job fine. And picking up radio stations gives it character.

Hi i just got one and man it realy rocks it sounds like Jimi, like David it the best Fuzz I heard, having a couple so I can compare. I have 2 modded Dunlop Faces with BC109 and other one with NKT275 and they are realy great, the Hartman Sil/Germ Fuzz is also a great pedal but this one sounds I wanted it, very BOG and Gilmour and what do you think of Frank Marino in his old days
Great buy, great buffer and nails the sound I want.
Peace Strat58

Maybe off topic but if you want to sound like Hendrix in the Band of Gypsies try a Roger Mayer Voodoo Axe or Axis Fuzz. I own a Voodoo Axe and I promise I jumped out of my seat (office chair) when I heard Hendrix Isle of Wight concert: Itīs the sound of my rig!! I play in a Vox AC30 but it seems to nail the sound very good anyway. Of course I play with a Strat.

Is the MXR classic 108 fuzz the same as the Hendrix fuzz face but with the added buffer switch? I haven't heard the final answer on that yet, but have noticed that more people seem to prefer the Hendrix fuzz face to the 108.
