I have a 2002 McSoapy in dark cherry sunburst with birds. I greatly prefer the stock pickups to the stock pickups in my Gibson R6 goldtop and Custom Shop LP Special Re-Issue. I also like the fact that McSoapy bucks hum in the middle position, while neither of the Gibsons do that. The PRS pickups are more aggressive than either Gibson, especially the R6, and a lot more to my liking. The PRS is also quite a bit lighter.

I have a pair of Antiquities sitting in their boxes in the shop, never been installed. I haven't felt the need to put them in any of these three axes, although I wonder a lot if they might not wake up the R6 a bit.

If I could only have one guitar, I would be happy to take one of these!

Times is tough so I recently had to sell my McSoapy to a friend but I LOVED that axe. I think the stock pickups are perfect for that guitar. I also believe a lot of folks get a McSoapy and than try to make it more of an R6 or some other P-90 variant. With the stock pups it does it's own thing and covers some huge tonal territory. Want it more polite & "low wind"? Turn down the Vol. and it opens right up. Twang? Both pups & vol rolled off a tad. Big time rock growl and sustain? Open up the bridge pup and let it roar. For my money, and based on the 3 other PRS guitars I've owned, it's my favorite PRS all-time.

I used to have a McSoapy goldtop that I miss. It was one of the best playing and sounded guitars I've ever had. Can't remember why I let it go.... .......

I used to own this McSoapy...bought it at Wild West Guitars. Traded it to a TGP'er from Southern Cal.

I had a Baker Jr Hollow w/soaps, at the same time. The McSoap had a quicker attack more ping. The PRS 90's were hotter than the DiMarzio 90's in on the Baker.

I liked the McSoap...I still have the Baker...and the leather couch.

I got this one not too long ago. A McSoapy Rosewood. I just love this guitar! It's important to work with the height of the pickups to tune the tone to your liking. Not many people do that, but it makes a huge difference in feel and tone.
