Cusack screamer...or screamer V2?

im looking in to buying one of these pedals as a boost for my sparkle drive. From what i can tell, they both hit the spot just right. I love that creamy OD, but it can even go into a medium distortion. The problem is, i just cant tell which one i like best. Each one sounds very...very good if its put on the right settings. Any tips on which one i should invest in? ALso, what would you say is the "price to tone" ratio?

Im running a standard tele into an AC15cc, with a DD-20 and a sparkel drive.

Neither. If you have a Sparkle Drive already, look into something that isn't a TS style circuit.

I just played a Menatone Blue Collar today and it is going to be my next purchase. Way more clarity and beef without the nasally mid hump of a TS.

Aparently Storm hasn't tried a Cusack, as it has a TON more clarity than a typical "TS" circuit. Clarity is the reason I built the Screamer is the first place, to get a similar sound to the TS, but with more gain and clarity. Not all TS "clones" are built alike....

The V2 also has a Toggle to select what type of clipping diodes it has, including the original type from the V1. I highly suggest the V2 for the added clipping options. There may be a few V1s left floating around, but most dealers are out of it.

I actually have played the V1 Screamer. It is a nice pedal, but it did not overly impress me. My comment above is that it is not different enough to warrant adding to the Sparkle Drive. Now replacing it...that is a different story.

I have both, and both are a win. I keep both on my board and have the V2 set up for darker more distorted tones. Im not familiar with the sparkle but have used it with the Xotic BB, Eternity, and an Old MIJ DS-1, it sounds fantastic on its own and stacks really well with OD's and Distortions alike.

I'm not a huge fan of the TS-style drives, but the V2 sounded very cool in the video I saw. It made me think about changing my anti-TS bias...
