Actually, I'm surprised that no one has done this sooner-a relic for under a grand? Once again Fender has some good minds in the sales department.
I am assuming that these are made in Mexico?

Hmmm

we'll see what the street price is before I say yea or nay

I like the feel and sound of the relics, but I understand why some think it silly to pay new guitar prices for a beat up guitar.

True, kind of like buying worn & torn blue jeans.

I don't think it's silly to pay new guitar prices for what is, after all, a new guitar. I just think it's silly to make it look old on purpose. (And, yes, I get it that some folks love the relic look. I saw a relic tele today at Guitarville in Seattle that was really cool, looked really old, and was just $2,000 or so. But it's NOT really old. I'd know that every time I picked it up.)

The relic look is just a cosmetic treatment, if you like it cool. If not, find a color/look that you like best.

No it hasn't.

For that money you could put together a KILLER Warmoth Strat.

"comes with plenty of soul" :don't forget to cut holes in the knees of your blue jeans. Here, roll this pack of smokes in your tee shirt sleeve. Need a tattoo?
