Three-position switch questions

I got the itch to re-vamp a two-humbucker guitar (Ibanez Talman w/ Bigsby) that used to have a five-position strat-style switch with a master volume and master tone (the five positions gave me coil splitting). I'm also replacing the weak and scratchy mini pots with full-sized 500Ks and a new cap. I'm trying to keep it simple.

Seeing these awesome humbucker-sized P90s, I wanted to try one out on the neck position and replace the bridge pickup as well, so I wanted to go with a three-way switch. After looking at all the different switch varieties, I went with a PC board style switch. Did I make a mistake? I've heard good and bad things about these switches.

Also, the tags all run across the switch in one row and some of them are already joined together, but in a different way than specified jumpers on the instructions. When I wired it up, the middle position gives me nothing. Spots 1 and 3 work fine. I'm having trouble finding a good wiring diagram for these switches. Any suggestions?

Check out Seymour Duncan's website, they have lots of good wiring diagrams. I believe they also have a chart showing different 3 way switches and how they should be wired. As far as the different types of switches I personally don't care for the PC board style, but any 3 way switch will work fine.
