Anyone care to comment on one vs the other?

I had the same question about a year ago. I talked to Steve Oliver and he said hands down, the NS1 is the way to go. (Its tough to compare since Carvins retail stores are only in CA.) I ordered the NS1 on Steves advice and couldn't be anymore happier.

isn't steve oliver a paid endorsee? I'm interested in the cedar topped godin acs though i've been less than overwhelmed with the other godins i've owned or played.

I wasn't to impressed with the Godins I've played either. Steve used to play Godins before Carvin approached him. He basically designed the guitar with the things he liked, and disliked about the Godin. The Carvin has a set neck, ergonomic control pots, and a superior Graphtech pickup system. The piezo sounds are amazing! The tracking is also second to none.

Unlike the Godin, The Carvin sounds and feels like a serious guitar.

I hope this helps.
Peace
Mark

The maple top is a bad choice for an instrument that's supposed to be an acoustic type instrument. Graphtech makes a good product but I'm not convinced it's noticably better than the RMC system. i believe they are pretty similar in terms of specs and capabilities. Also, godin makes a slim version of the instrument. Regarding the carvin feeling like a serious guitar, I hope they have improved since the carvin fat boy I bought a few years back which was terrible.

The absolute best thinline nylon string is the rick turner. Wish he'd make a synth model.

Did he refuse to install an RMC or Graphtech system when you asked him?

Given your champagne tastes I'm not following why you're setting your sights kind of low (factory made guitars as opposed to Turner, Sadowsky, etc.).

Neither Turner nor Sadowsky would install them last time I asked. I'm leaning towards having them installed in a hollowbody but was curious about the carvin vs. godin.
