Monster cable = tone sucker????

I have been using a 12' Monster Rock cable from my guitar to amp for several years, and all seemed fine. Today, instead of the Monster, I used a 10' George L's cable (the thin 0.155 one). My tone was much clearer and cleaner. The Monster's going into the drawer. Anybody else have this experience with Monster?

I actually had been using Monster 12' rock cables for a while until I plugged into a Lava ELC and noticed a HUGE difference in clarity. I think Monsters are just over-hyped and over priced. (Personally, anyways..)

I jumped on the Monster bandwagon back like 10 years ago when they were the thing. Not bad, certainly a lot better than the garbage of the day (ProCo, RapCo, Fender, Peavey, etc.) -- but nowadays they are way outclassed by so many others. I feel ashamed & emasculated that someone used the barf icon at the cables I am still using-- time to change (single tear) . Looking at boobies will make me happier-- later.

Monster Cables are horrible. Overpriced & a lot of hype. We've A/B them with a cheap cable that you get with any $100 guitar, and the cheap cable sounded better, it was microphonic but sounded better

ok, so now I'm done looking at boobies and also feeling it's time to switch. Recommendations: anything but? Seriously, I'm eying Sommer, Lava, Vovox, Fulltone, and all mostly just on hearsay/sales pitches, there's of course no way for me to demo any of these before deciding. I can't decide.

What's funny is that Monster Cable sues any small business they can find with the word Monster in it. Got an obscure coffee shop at the far end of the earth named Monster Coffee? Look out, they'll find you.

The latest episode apparently was a thrift store in Michigan, something like Monster Thrift (charity based.) They went after the owner and the story continues from there.

So whoa, better be careful on how you rate their quality in public!

Monster Cables can blow me. Like they were the first person to think of the name "Monster." These guys are RIAA level douche bags, even if their product was the greatest cable in the world and cost 1/10 what it does now, I would't buy them.

i use to build my cables for years (very low grade parts as well), tried monster cables didn't notice a difference. and still have a radio shack gold tip cable that i've had for the past 15 years that sounds better.

than i picked up some mogami cables... so much better in clarity.

I got hyped on monster about 10 years ago too and I bought the gold, black, and white.
The definitely suck tone.
The vovox completely blew me away from the first note:
http://www.lavacable.com/vovox.html

I've tried many high end cables, and they were all better than than the monster, but the vovox was the most impressive.

Well, I should probably get some new cables while everyone else is! Problem is, I don't quite have $100-$200 US for two 10' cables. How are the Mogami 2524? Also looking at Gepco or Van Damme...
