Does anyone here not use Boutique pedals
I was wondering after going through all the pics. Is there anyone here
who uses the generic Boss, DOD, DIG, Pedals. Some of the guys i play with say I'm wasting my time and money. The thing is i don't get into it with them because they have great tone. |

I've never bought one myself. Really.
Anything "boutiqe-y" in nature I've used I've built myself.Jim

Standard ts9's, dd20, tu2 and washburn phaser.
No boo-teek on my board, mostly due to price. |

Depends...
What do you define as "Boutique"? I use a lot of stuff that is small, handbuilt stuff, but I also have and use a lot of "standard" products; Boss, Line 6, Digitech, EHX, etc. Different strokes... But, I must say, that if you don't use too many effects, and you are somewhat subtle in their use, the boutiques aren't necessarily better. I know a guy with great tone who uses a TS9, an SD1, and a DD3 into a Fender Super. I can't make his rig sound good, but he does. It's all about what works for YOU.

I play Fryette and Bad Cat Amps I play PRS, Parker, Gibson, Fender, and Rickenbacker guitars. I avoid playing acoustics like the plague. I use Apogee, Blue, Black Lion, A Designs, Grace, Focusrite, AKG, KRK, etc. to record. I use Logic. Avid annoys me. |

I'm really tempted to put together a Board with only Boss pedals, maybe a tubescreamer and only use that for a month or two and see what happens.
This year I'm looking to buy a new Wah, Chours, Fuzz etc. That'll easy run me a few K. |

I've got a Morley Bad Horsie and a Digitech delay on my board. Formerly a Boss delay. And I've kept my old Danelectro Fab Tone, DOD DFX9, DD-6 because they sound good.

I don't use them but it's not because I don't like them or trying to make a statement. I just know I can get some fine sounds without them. I don't want to wait months for a pedal to arrive only to find out it's not my thing. I don't like buying or selling on ebay or craigslist so they'll be hard to flip. Trying to sell local people won't buy unless it says Boss or Line 6.

I have two pedals by Paul C, two by David Barber and three by Fulltone along with four Boss pedals and one each by Dunlop and Voodoo Labs.
Excepting the Fulltone '69, the pedal that cost me the most $$$ was my Boss DD-7. Even though PaulC', Barber and Fulltone are considered 'boutique,' they are all great values. The build quality alone will probably end up paying for itself down the road. |
