Interested in a Vox AC30 type amp...

What do you guys recommend? Kingsley? Hayseed? or Vox? any others?
Any of these take pedals better?

Also, who has clips of these they can share? I found that big Hayseed vs Vox thread, but many of the clips are no longer there.

Thanks!

I'd put Gabriel and XITS amps at the top of the list. Check out their websites for tone samples. gabtone.com and xits-sound.com. Awesome awesome amps and super cool builders.

My Bad Cat Hot Cat 15 does the Vox thing REALLY well on the clean channel, and takes pedals very well also, and it may be available

I'd seek out a JMJ-30 if you want great Vox sounds. On the other hand, many people feel the AC30CC sounds great for not much dough.

That Xits sounds great...never had one or even played it so I should comment other than to say I want to find one and play it real bad. I like the Gabriel stuff but I am not sure if I like the blue/green mix as much as say a blue/g12h30 mix. But the option of two footswitchable gain settings is brilliant. Just a preference. I went with the Hayseed because I heard good thing, the price was right, and I could get a red amp which I always wanted. You have alot of choices here it would be hard to make a bad choice.

I tell you guys what. I have a 61 and a 65 ac30 + 3, 95 limited edition ac30's.My best sounding ac 30 is the chinese made one with alnico blues. It outchimes, and has a lot more tonal options than the vintage ones. It also is th quietest by far.The early ones got a bad rap. The latest versions are incredible, and this comes from an AC30 lover/ Mind you, my 61 and 65 aint no slouches, and the 61 rocks the hardest, but thruth be told. I would rather play the chinese as it sounds everybit as good as my old ones, and better in some instances.I guess my point is. If you want a Vox, buy a Vox The boutiques are killer, ive had them all, but none sound like a true vintage Vox like the newer vox amps.

not trying to stir the pot, but honest question: what experience do you have with the custom classics?

I have a Kingsley deluxe, great amp but not real Voxy to my ears.
My Vox Ac30cc1 with a celestion gold is nice, but my AC15tv1 with a blue is one of the best Vox tones i've ever heard.
If you've never played a Vox don't discount the AC15 until you know it is not loud enough for your situation.

+1. i've played a decent handful of Vox clones and nothing sounds exactly like a vox w/ blues regardless of where it's made. i've played some of the chinese-made ones and some were dogs and some sounded just awesome. maybe there's a lack of consistency with the import ones but i've certainly played some that sounded really good.

I've considered looking at the 15. It may be loud enough for me, but I do need some loud cleans as I often use pedals for dirt.
