Cant Find Desert Sand Paint
I have a client looking to finish his 59 Duo Sonic back to its original Desert Sand color.
Problem is that I cant find the color anywhere. ReRanch, ect The only thing close was an enamal (model paint) which I dont wanna use. Anyone have any sources besides?

Most cities have a Sherwin Williams that will color match. They also can do nitro ( or so I've been told ).
I have no idea what they charge but it may be your only shot unless you wanna match it by eye yourself ( which isnt actually that hard ) white nitro - with a little brown , a tiny bit of yellow and black - and you would probably be REALLY close

Now, www.mohawkfinishing.com has a toner (rattle can lacquer) by the name of "Maple Ivory Mist" I believe which is semi-trans but quite close to the Desert Sand. But it is not a perfect match for the poly "Desert Sand" on these current CP Bajas, and may be of no use to you at all.
All I know is, I've got a Sherman Williams store within shouting distance of this building (you can hear their big trucks parked idling in the night) and they have no clue when I walk in the door. They wanna sell caulk and interior wall emulsion. |
