Fender Road Worn v Fender Classic Player

I briefly tried the Road Worn. I was so wildly impressed with the Classic Player 60s, I was kinda confused on which one I would want at this point given that both have flatter radius, jumbo frets, and a slick feel.

With little experience with the Road Worn, I still have to say Fender is VERY impressive these days!

I must admit I dig the worn in "Nash-style" neck on the Road Worn.

I know I am mostly thinking the 60s Strats, but consider this a poll of Teles, Strats, 50s, and 60s. Vote and comment below.

What say you?

what is the radius on the Road Worn Strat? I thought I read it was 7.5 or maybe 9.5 and the classic player is 12.

See, the one I really want is the Road Worn 62 Rosewood board strat in Olympic White BUT ! with the 2 point trem, pickups and fingerboard rad off of the Classic Player, all aged to suit the Road Worn look.

Oh, yeah and I want it to have the back profile from a 92 Jeff Beck, reverse angle on the bridge pickup, and come in at 7lbs dead.

Ahh, yes so what I'd be wanting is a custom order then ?

I can't decide between the 2, but my girl has a Classic Player so I get to play that a lot and I love that guitar. Thing about the Road Worn is I LOVE worn in necks like that.

I'll have to qualify my response by admitting I haven't yet had a chance to check out the Road Worn series. But, having owned a CP 50s, I'm guessing the overall quality is similar. If that's the case, then it's a no-brainer for me. I'm not really into the "relic" thing. I'm one of those who'd rather put the wear on myself and I don't mind a nice, clean looking guitar. Plus I like the pickups and features of the CP series. So unless the build or material quality is radically better with the RW, it'd have to be the Classic Player.

i bought my classic player 60 before they came out with the road worns. at first i was bummed cuz i like the relic look, but after playing them for a while (they do play and sound great) i prefer the modern radius, 2 point trem and CS pups (though i replaced mine with hot noiseless) on the classic player

Many vote, few comment. It is fun to vote though. I guess it's just the nature of it. Haven't played a RW yet so I can't give any forward moving opinions.

That's my comment.

Just for the pickups i'd say CP. I'm not a big fan of the tex mex pickups (and not a big fan of the relic look either).

A RW anyday for me. For the neck alone. I hate glossy, gym floor poly'd necks. I have a friend who has both, I love the woody, vintage tones of the RW too. In those guitars the tex mex pickups sounds very good. Also the V-trem stays in tune better!

The RW blows away the EJs too! Yes I said that.

I'd prefer the 12" radius on the neck of the Classic Player. I wouldn't take either now due to the pricing, not unless I got a great deal on a used one.

+1 The CP and Classic Series MIM's are really expensive now in Canada ($1300 CDN vs. about $700-$800 when the dollar was strong and pre-Fender price hike in early last year).

The Road worns are actually about $200 cheaper here ... so I'd go that route. Played a few and they were pretty good.
