OCD but....

Pedal-masters -

So, is there a pedal out there that is an OCD-sounding (-ish) and -feeling but with a more tweak-able EQ? I really, really like the un-mid-bump of the OCD and the feel of it, but find it a little bass-y, and with certain guitars the single Tone knob leaves a little to be desired in terms of tweakability.

Anyone out there have a recommendation???

TIA,
T

i've got two KOTB and the 5 knobber has that feel... i'd reccomend the newer 2 button one to get the feel of the group. its a lovely pedal with a 3 way eq and 4 internal eq pots as well.

I like my Barber Direct drive. Has that OCD feel to me. A little less gain, and mine doesn't have the new internal pots, which is okay to me, but if you bought with the internal pots... there you go! It's also got a nice price tag!

I has a bit of a hump, but it's lower - like a detuned TS. It's a cool pedal, but does have a bit more compression.

Yeah, a little more mid-oriented than the OCD, and little more compressed.

But you get the bass/treble EQ knobs, so relatively, you can dial out the mids.

Interesting that you post this because I've been wondering the same thing!

Perfection.
While that would be optimal, Brian Maestro had the next best thing.

Just to mention it for you guys that read "add an EQ pedal" and think "oh no..means I gotta stomp on TWO pedals to turn it on, no thanks" it doesn't have to mean that. If you buy a looper pedal, you could put the OCD AND the EQ pedal in it's own loop, keep them on all the time, and then just select the loop (one stomp does it all) when you want you want to use the pedal, voila, both on at the same time.

If I were to go that route I think I would try the EQ both before AND also try it after the OD to see which had the best effect on the sound.

Another advantage with this, it effectively gives you TWO OD's, the OD sound with just the OCD, the OD sound with the OCD and EQ pedal engaged (you can "preload" which combination you want before hitting the looper to enable the loop) which means you could set the EQ to boost (or opposite, to attenuate) the signal, giving you a rythm and lead setting really. This could also be done without the loop.

The only downside is one more pedal (or two, counting the looper) on the pedalboard. Not a big deal really. If not using the looper, you also might find that the EQ pedal setting for the OCD also works with clean (no OD).

Lots of options here.

+1, my thoughts exactly.
