It seems like everyone raves about Mojave amps. It also seems like everyone sells them after they get them. Whazupwitdat?
The handful I've heard seem stellar. The clips always sound great.

They sound great and are built like a tank.

Can't answer that question. All I know is I have a Coyote and a Sidewinder and I am never selling them. That's coming from a guy who is in the "amp of the month" club. I love the simplicity of these amps. The quality of the build is as good as it gets. As a big fan of power tube saturation (at acceptable levels) I haven't found anything better. I also have two of Vic's 2x12 cabs and I can't say enough about them. They are small and compact but also well built and sound great.

I bought a used sidewinder and am selling it. I had a problem with my vox hh and convinced myself I needed a boutique ultra expensive el84 amp. In the end I got the chinese vox repaired because it simply crushed the sidewinder, imho. They are built like tanks, but for me it was so midrangy and honky sounding I just couldn't stand it so, the less than half as much vox won.

I loved the Coyote and Peacemaker. The Scorpion -- one I played sounded great, the other, a bit strange in the mids. Must've been the speaker ....
Anyway, I don't see them being any worse than any other brand when it comes to resale.

I own both a Mojave Peacemaker and Scorpion (and 2 Mojave 4x12's), and not only am I extremely happen with them, I'd never sell mine either.
Some of the best tone and string-articulation I've ever heard in an amp. One thing about these amps are that they are not a rookie's amp. They will not mask someone's poor/noisy playing technique. If you are not a clean player, it'll come right through the amp. After playing for all these years, my technique surprisingly improved greatly after plugging into a Mojave for a few months. I'm a much cleaner player now than ever. Last edited by JJGray; 01-27-2009 at 12:00 AM. Reason: corrected a typo |

I've got to agree on the cabs. I've got one of the 2x12's with g12h30's in it, and it's a killer cab.
I've always wanted to live with a Coyote for a bit and see what I thought of it, but have never had a chance.

I had a Scorpion and it holds the record for shortest amount of time that I've owned an amp. I got rid of it because it sounded very harsh and grating no matter what I did. I tried different speaker cabs, different guitars, different tubes, different bias settings, etc., but in the end it was gone in about a week. Maybe it was a bad one.
However, I've played the Peacemaker and Sidewinder, and I loved both of those. |

I heard a Peacemaker a few years back and I thought it was a fantastic amp. Don't know about the other models........

I have a Coyote and it is a really great amp but I will probably sell it or trade it due that I also have a '65 bassman and found that the tones and distortion saturation were similar and I can get a little better highs on the bassman head, plus the Mojave cost way more than what I paid for the bassman, but otherwise the amp it's really great.

Another shinning endorsement for Mojave here. Have played the Peacemaker, Scorpion and Coyote, and LOVE them ALL. I own a Peacemaker, and the clarity with which it produces it's aggressive Plexi-like tone is unparalleled, IMO.

Great amps, very toneful and dependable. I gigged a lot with a coyote and it never let me down.

I had a Peacemaker and the tones were freaking awesome (I mean, AWESOME!) It wasn't real practical for gigging, though, because I always had the amp volume cranked for distortion and would have to dial in the actual stage volume on a HotPlate. Sometimes one notch on the HotPlate would be too loud and another too soft with no middle ground.
Mine had the power dampening, but I didn't really like the way that sounded compared to the HotPlate. I preferred the power dampening cranked up full blast to disengage it. I ended up using a combination of HotPlate setting and power dampening to get the stage volume just right, but it was a pretty big pain in the ass. Of course, now I can cop this same killer tone with an amp that has a million times more features and tonal options, so I'm happy.

Oh, I also didn't like how the front and back panel looked. It looked to me like someone used a dot matrix printer to print the control panels. It was all faded and pixellated (sp?) That's not big deal, but the amp was such high quality in every other part that it stood out.
