Boss GT-8 Users

I just got one and have a couple of questions. I'm trying to set it up to use this weekend at my gigs. I'm using the 4CM with my Carvin Legacy. I set up 1 clean patch using the GT preamp, and 3 dirty patches using my amps preamp. I noticed to balance the volume my clean patch volume is around 30, where the dirty patches are 100. Is that normal. Also when I turn up to LOUD band volumes using the knob on the back of the GT-8 the sound cuts out on the dirty patches that I made. I didn't check the presets. It almost sounds like a gate clamping down, but its when I'm playing and on one of my settings I have EVERYTHING off. Its fine when I turn down a bit. Any idea what could be causing that?

I wouldn't use the volume on the GT-8 for that purpose. I would recommend you plug directly in to the Legacy, dial in your band level volume, then plug the GT-8 in and make it match.

When usng the 4CM with the Legacy the GT8 controls the overall volume. The amps master doesn't really do much. I'm not sure if its like that with other amps, but I've read on the Carvin board about it acting like that with the Legacy.

This should be the case when using the preamps from the GT-8 (as you should have the unit set up to bypass the effects loop on the GT-8 when you're using the preamps on the GT-8), but not when you are using the preamp section on the Legacy. Perhaps this will help...

From the thread...

This is my thread about the GT-8. The first link is a walkthrough of my setup with the Mesa Roadster. You should be able to apply the same ideals to the Legacy. Maybe this will give you a little help.

Hey SAM

I suggest you don't bother posting your Gt-8 questions here. Do it where the Boss MFX experts hang out on www.BossGTcentral.com

Nice bunch of helpful people over there with tonnes of free info, editing software, patches etc. It's not affiliated with Boss/Roland in any way.

There's a great alternative manual for the Gt-8 posted there called "GT Brilliance". That'll answer all your 4CM questions and almost aything else you wanna know
