Microphonic P90s
I've got a case of two microphonic P90s in a guitar. The pickups actually sound good. It's just that they can't handle any gain without squealing and when you tap on them they definitely make a lot of noise.
Is there a way to get rid of the microphonic issue? I imagine coating them in wax will work but are there any good resources on how to do it? |

That is not what you think. Single coils are noisy. All pickups make noise when you tap on them.
Squeeling happens if you don't ride the knob at high gain settings, P-90s are worse than all others about taking off.

No these have an issue. I have plenty of P90 guitars that are not this way. The pickups need some treatment.

A light wax potting will take care of it.Make sure the base plate screws are tight as well.
You want some microphonics but,not so much the amp will squeal too much with moderate gain. |

What are they from? Let's see if there may be a grounding issue, or maybe someone wired the switch in exactly backwards on the in/out out/in.
There are a couple wiring issues that make any guitar scream like it's dying. Might be simpler than it appears! Some guys miss how the switch grounds.
