Fender 65 re-issues

I had a guy pitch a guitar for sale to me. He described it as a '65 re-issue that he got from Fender in the late 80s or early 90s. He doesn't know much about it other than that. What years did Fender make 65 re-issues? I know the custom shop did one, and there is a Japan model, but this guitar is USA made. Was the custom shop around back then? Thanks for any help!

Custom shop started around '87...There was a time machine '65 strat with pearl dots and transition logo in the early 2000s. I think it came in sunburst, black and lake placid. I know Ishibashi had CIJ '65ri because I wanted to buy one!

Can you get a serial# off the guy?

The serial number is V045355. I don't believe it's a 65 reissue though, since it does not have the transition logo...it has the spaghetti logo.
