Gibson color fading

I'm amazed how quickly the cherry portion of the finish of my R9 is fading. I have slight fading on the upper bout, and much more significant fading on the neck and headstock. I know everyone loves the patina effect, but this is an '04.......what's it gonna look like in 5 more years? It gets played a lot, and is left on a stand sometimes a week at a time. Usually the blinds are pulled and it doesn't get much sunlight, and NO direct sunlight. Any gigging is nighttime activity anyway. Not complaining, just an observation.

(ignore the 2 finish chips, they were love taps from a bottle )

in these 2 pictures you can see some slight receding of the cherry in the upper bout

much more significant is the fading on the neck and headstock

Notice that for about 1/8" around the tuners the cherry is still dark; much more noticeable than the pictures reveal........

Red fades fast, especially if you use a non-colorfast dye.
