Calling All Fender Guru's
I finally opened up my bandmaster a while ago, 1963 6g7A, with the precense everything...The transformer codes were as follows PT:125P19A, the Output was 125P19A, and the choke was 125C1A.... When I searched these on the net, the transformer chart found http://www.unclespot.com/FenderXFMRchart.html ...here... says those are incorrect and from various other fender amps...so I'm thinking great, I got a chop job.... but then I search the net again and find this ebay ad

the 63blonde/blackface which is on ebay also claims to be all original...so I doubt it is a coincidence....Looks like its just a result of the transition no?

A 125P19A p/t goes to an AB763 Twin Reverb with 7591 tubes, per the chart.

More Info: Under each of the model numbers is a what i believe to be the date code....Under the PT it reads '606305', under the Output it reads '606319' and under the choke it reads '606327' which would mean that each component was manufactured by shumacher="606", in 1963='3', in the various weeks ascribed by the last two numbers.....The date code on the tube chart "MH" dates it to August of '63....which dates all transformers made before the amp itself
BTW...the 63 on ebay with the blackface PT which is 125P19A also dates to the fifth week of 63...with a date code of 'MJ' dating it in October...2 monthes after mine This really has me stumped..... Last edited by brack23_5; 02-06-2009 at 07:41 PM. |

According to the schem's in Aspen Pittman's Tube Amp book
A 6G7-A would normally have the following : PT - 67233 Choke - 125C1A OPT - 45217 Since yours is a ' 63(early, is my guess..) you have the AB763 OT. Maybe it was replaced, but, it's probably original, per the year .

Fender never just threw away old parts when in transition so Fender had some hybrid amps along the way... I would not worry about it and of course the main thing is does it work? Does it sound good (great)?

yea it definately sounds great. Fits my style perfectly...I'm honestly more curious than anything... I also just found it odd that the chart has this PT listed for 7591 tubes, yet it obviously runs on the 5881/6l6....however, the blonde AB763 circuit one also has this some PT and runs on 5881/6l6's as well
