Big Bends nut sauce. Made a huge improvement on a few guitars that occasionally had sticking strings.

I don't use anything. If the nut is cut properly, you don't need it. It's another accessory they bilk you for because it's "for guitar." I remember in the early 80's a 1 ounce bottle of lemon oil "for guitar" was about $5-$6. I bought an 8 ounce bottle of Formby's for less than $3.00 and it still has at least 3 ounces in it.

Save your money and have the guitar set up if you're having problems.

Chap Stick. Cheap, stays in place, and isn't messy like graphite.

Hob-E-Lube. Dry graphite. I bought a tube of this stuff when I was doing my Sons pinewood derby project. Works great!

I know how to set up a guitar. i did my first refret in 1978. But while some say thier strats stay perfectly in tune, thats a bit of an exaggeration in most cases. Mine does ok, and i know how to cut a proper nut, trust me. But never the less, even with bone the slots tend to wear in ways that will eventually cause tuning issues even if slight. ANY tuning issues are IMO too much. So i decided to see if there is anything better than graphite. Thats all.

Chap stick eh? Interesting. Might give that a go, but any reason it would work bettert than vasaline or vasaline combined with pencil lead? Not contesting it, just asking.

Carmex and pencil lead. You put the pencil in the Carmex. Then you rub the pencil in the slot. Wipe off any excess that wound up outside the slot. Yes it turns the nut slots black.

Big Bends here, I use it every time I restring. I've got LOTS of guitars and still haven't used up half the tube I bought last year. A little bit goes a long way, so while it's pricey for a tube, it lasts a loooong time.

Pencil lead, although I'm not against trying other products.
