Talking Funny reactions to my new Roadworn

I've had a chance to show the guitar to a bunch of friends and customers in the vintage guitar shop where I used to work. Today, my band mates also saw the guitar for the first time.

Now, you have to understand that all of these people would bet you any amount of money you cared to wager that I would never own an import Fender. Of course, this is where the fun begins! When people first see the guitar they think it's a Custom Shop relic like my others, but the common reaction has been, "Now THAT'S a cool relic!" Assuming that it's a Custom Shop instrument, many have shared their opinion that it's the nicest looking relic they've seen. They've been shocked when the find out where the guitar was made.

I've handed the guitar to a bunch of people and some look at the back of the headstock immediately and their eyes bug out in shock! I had one guy that was sure I put the Made in Mexico on it myself. One friend took the guitar while it was plugged into the amp and totally dug it. Really loved the feel and tone. When he finally looked at the back of the headstock and almost threw the guitar back to me! It's like he thought he was going to catch something from it.

The guitar is a hit. :BEER

Nice looking strat! The relic craze will claim me as a victim down the road I'm sure...Love the vibe, and if they really play well and sound great, who the hell cares where they were made?!

I just wish they didn't all have the exact same wear in the exact same places. The arm contour spot is a dead giveaway - all of the Roadworns look just like that. A little variety would be nice. Glad you like your new guitar!

The guitar IS a looker!

The feel made a good friend and great player break his self imposed moratorium on using the word "Mojo" to describe gear.

The guitar does not disappoint!

These guitars are going to wear very quickly. One thing to remember about relics, is that they were never meant to remain in their current state for a long period of time.

The finish on the body is so thin, and since your arm is moving across the area, each guitar is going to change in short order.

I'm not into reliced guitars, but even I think those road worn fenders look really nice. Go figure.

How does the guitar sound with that amp? Delicious!!

I could really play that setup anywhere, on any stage and be fine. They really work well together to give me HUGE cleans and any level I want. I'm very happy with the combination.:AOK

I'm still reluctant to give my Roadworn any special title because it's still so new, but there is no denying how impressive the guitar is. I can't put it down and even my wife notices me wandering around the house with in morning and night. That's really never happened with all of the great guitars I've owned.

There's just something about this guitar!:AOK

I'd call it an "underdone" relic, which of course is way better than an overdone relic.
It has just enough 'damage' on it, IMO....it looks like an old guitar that's been well looked after.

I'd love one for myself...best of luck with yours.
It has been a big surprise. I can't believe how wonderful this guitar is. There's something about the way it acoustically rings out in a very vintage and woody way. I was playing it this morning before work and it's just so satisfying to play without even plugging in. It feels like a solid piece of resonant wood. The guitar vibrates so much, it tickles your hand on the neck.

I really love this guitar!
