Road Worn Strats..anyone seen the Olympic White yet ?

I was at my local shop today and saw the black w/maple neck and sunburst with rosewood neck - for $779. At that price, I'm very interested. The sunburst strat looked really nice, tastefully done and hanging next to a $2,400 Custom Shop relic I'd say the Road Worn looked nicer. Didn't have time to plug it in during lunch time. I asked about the olympic white strat, and was told they don't have a delivery date yet. I thought the "blackie" version looked too overdone, the neck looked silly.

With the price increase the Jimmie Vaughan Signature hanging in the same rack for $709 didn't look like such a "bargin" strat anymore, imho.

The relicing on the Olympic white looks pretty much the same, but with a banana cream colored tint to the finish. Of the three available colors for a strat, sunburst looks the best, IMHO.

These did seem the most tasteful and realistic relicing I've seen. Felt good too.

I have a white one but it does not look like banana creme. It looks aged white and in certain light it looks like a really very light blue which is strange but cool.

I did not like the treatment of the maple boards and I thought
the 60's strats looked best. I'm not really a sunburst guy but I
did think the three tone burst (what I have) looked a hair better
than the olympic white.

would have liked to have seen a 2nd color on the 60's tele
(olympic white, LPB etc...)

I love the way the maple boards look. They're going to get dark very quickly and that's a look you find on a bunch of vintage Fenders that have had the snot played out of them.

Even my non relic appreciating friends thought my Roadworn was the best looking relic I've owned. Part of that if because most of them thought it really was a vintage guitar when they first saw it.

Really? Every pic I see is bright white with no tinted clear coat. It's cool if they changed them. faded oly white is the best!

I have an Oly White RW and I think it's incredible......As I've said in other threads: I never liked or wanted a Stratocaster, but I played this RW and fell in love and now my Gibson Les Paul and my ESP's just hang on the wall watching me play the shit out of my RW Strat. I never thought a Strat would become my #1. She's like a beautiful milf that's been used but still wants you to play her all the time, LOL.......

I checked out a oly white one today at GC. It was very light and resonant unplugged. But it looked overdone, the pickguard had brown stains rather than just mint, and the body actually looked green to me. No matter, if the price was better ( a LOT better) than $950 I might have thought about it.

I bought an oly white yesterday. Light weight and very resonant unplugged.
As said by Carrot the pickguard is overdone. Though I can live with that I may swap it against a mint one some day.

I will agree that the pickguard is an element that just looks like it was made to look old in the way the Walt Disney or some theme park would "Age" something.

Of course, to anyone more than a few feet away, it looks like an old, dirty pickguard. I'm not changing mine.

I believe that in 2 years of gigging, these guitar are going to look amazing!

I stopped in to check them out on Saturday and really liked the look and feel of everything....except the fret edges on the rosewood and maple necks stuck out like little needles!! Those need to be filed down to allow some fast work on the neck and then it is a great guitar at a great price.

I was in GC today and played a couple, but I have to tell you. They played nice enough for a mexi-made Fender, but then I got a good look at them. The ones I played were all beat to sh*t. I mean, scratches all over them. Paint worn off, and rust all over the screws, especially the bridge adjusters. Who would pay as much for one of these as you could get a nice, shiny new USA Fender for?
