Does anyone sell a single-channel guitar power amp?

How come it seems that all the guitar power amps are two channels: Mesa 20/20, Mesa 2:90, VHT 2/50/2, Peavey Classic 50/50, Carvin TS100, Randall Rt2/50, etc.

I don't really need two channels. I'd rather have a single-channel amp that costs less and weighs less.

Does anyone sell a single channel guitar power amp?
I'd like to find a single channel guitar power amp of about 15-20 watts for gigging at bars.

How come power amps are so expensive (outside of the Peaveys and Carvin)?

Crate, but it is stereo I believe. However, nothing says you have to use both channels.

I think the market for a mono poweramp is very small. Generally, if you're using a rack setup, you're using it for a stereo rig.

It would not be hard to build one, though.

Look for an ART SL-1 on Ebay. 130 watts a side, can be run bridged mono for 260 watts. Solid state, but is only one rack space high.

Also Crown D-30's and D-60's would work and can be found cheap with some looking. Another good choice are the Mosfet Tubeworks amps - I think they made some mono units specifically for guitar.

Tube rack amps wont ever be cheap - the iron required is physically large.

Budda made one once (mono 6V6), saw it on eBay but, pretty rare and I don't think it was production. Buy one and have it modded by an amp guy/ That is if you must have tubes. Plenty of mono capable SS power amps out there.

Peavey made the Classic 60 (as well as the Classic 60/60 in stereo).

One just sold recently on ebay:

They come up from time to time...

That's the one I remembered, my buddy had one. He likes his MosValve SS power amp better though.

I would think they would want to offer a single channel power amp, but I think they figure you can always just use one side of a stereo power amp. Some Stereo tube amps you can run them with just a load on one side, you have to check with the manual though....
