need more instant access switches!

I'm using a rocktron all access, and would like 2-4 more instant access switches. Without buying a bigger better controller, is there any smaller generic device that I could put inline to give me more instant access?

Thanks

I am in the same boat as you with a GC-Pro... I think the only way is to add another switcher, then instead of instant access switches, you have to go to all presets...

Yeah, I have the board set for 10 instant access switches right now, and I like having 5 presets on the bottom. I can program the presets to issue custom CC changes (instant access), but I can't toggle those on and off without leaving for another preset.

I could make the whole board instant access, but then I'd have to do some fancy tapping to get to some presets... hard to get best of both worlds I guess.

This might work.

Looks like there is no way to program this box to recall on/off state of each switch when changing presets on the All Access. But that wouldn't matter if you used the new switches for tap-tempo or mute-tune.

That looks like it might do the trick, thanks Scrutinizer!

I was once considering this very thing. Like mobis8 said, add another switcher. Set your all access to "all instant switches mode" thus giving you a total of 15 instant access switchers. Then use another midi controller to access the presets on the All Access. I always thought something like the tech 21 midi moose would work great with the all access. http://www.tunnelvisionmusic.com/pro...l-2816-40.html

That would replace your 5 preset switches and also do your up/down banking. If for some reason you'd still want to use the All Access to do your banking you'd need to make sure both units have midi in/out so they could communicate changes to each other. Without this, changes from the all access wouldn't get relayed back to the midi moose. For example: If you were currently on preset 1 of bank 1 and wanted to bank up to preset 3 on bank 2. If you used the bank up button on the all access and then hit the preset 3 switch on the midi moose you might find that it would bring up preset 3 on the bank 1 instead of bank 2 being it didn't get the message from the All Access to bank up. I can't think of why a guy wouldn't want to use the midi moose for banking anyhow but thought I'd just throw out that scenerio to shed some light on it.

That's what I was considering doing at one time when I was in your shoes. Hope that helps!

That sounds like a really good suggestion. I hadn't thought about using a smaller controller to send my program changes, and using all 15 instant access switches, but it makes a lot of sense. What did you ultimately end up doing?

THIS is why I ALWAYS recommend that when one sets out to build a rig, they ALWAYS plan for future growth.

Sorry about your dilemma. ALL of the feasible suggestions appear to be band aid fixes compared to the better fix--which is NOT what you want to do.

Just do it anyway... Get a Bigger/better/expandable MIDI foot controller. It may hurt a bit at 1st, but in the end, I PROMISE-- you'll be glad you pulled the trigger.

I haven't finished building my rig yet and therefore haven't needed the extra instant access switches. It was though and still is my plan should I get my rig built to where I need the extra room. I'm sure there are all kinds of different midi controllers that would work for you. I just mentioned the tech 21 unit because it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for at the time

Yeah, when I originally started setting up my rack rig, I only needed 4 loops, and 1 amp function. So an eight loop switcher and the all access worked wonderfully with room to spare. After four years, I've finally just slightly overgrown that rig, and added a GRX4 looper, and a sound sculpture foot sim. (with a few loops and amp function switches to spare for future expansion)

The more I think about it, I may not need instant access for every device in my rig, as I never run more than 4 devices at time. Seldom used gear could be setup per preset via custom commands, and then I could always leave the utility pedals, boost, comp, wah, etc.. on instant access.

Thanks for all the thoughts, much appreciated.
