Powering LARGE pedal boards...

I have two pedal train pro's...(lots of distortion/overdrive) and I currently use two 1 spots per board and daisy chain...works great, no added noise or hiss, no performance issues...but it is a snakes nest nightmare...looks sloppy...

Im wondering how others power large boards...you can fit 20-22 pedals on a PT pro...so batteries and wall warts are out of the question, and two voodoo lab pedal power 2's dont have enough connections...

so again how do you power your LARGE pedal boards

If you're looking to power a bunch of 9V pedals, you can daisy chain from one (or two) PP2s. The outputs put out 100 mA, and MOST pedals don't take that much. I had, at one time, 18 pedals on a board powered from one PP2. Two Line 6 modelers, a Whammy IV and a Prescription Electronics Vibe Unit were part of it. Even with those four power hogs, I still did fine with one PP2.

FYI, I had a nice little email chat with the folks at Voodoo Lab to make sure the PP2 could handle what I was throwing at it. They assured me it could, and it did.

Yup I daisy chain where I can, use a separate line for those pedals where you can't daisy chain. The PP2+ should handle anything you through at it. Remember you aren't running all your pedals at the same time.

i also use the Pedaltrain PRO-HC. i've mounted two PP2+s underneath, and i bought an IEC Y-cable connector from stompin' ground. i had to get two PP2+s as i use about 17 pedals including a bunch of moog, diamond, and empress stuff that goes beyond the normal 9v tap. but this works like a charm for me.

you can order an extra set of mounting brackets from pedaltrain, and that Y-cable i speak of you can snag here: http://www.stompin-ground.com/pics/hosa/yie406-web.htm

+1. Two PP2's should do the trick nicely with some daisy chaining.

excellent!
Thanks for the link...it will take me a while to afford (4) $170 PPII's LOL
as I have two pedal trains to power...could probably get away with three

most 9v pedals crank out 60ma...so I couldnt use two pedals at once!
