Good Reggae?

I've recently been getting into Reggae more and more, and am looking for suggestions on good reggae artists.

...And yes I know Bob Marley...

Obviously there's tons of great Reggae, but a couple of things not to be overlooked in my opinion are these:

The more Bob Marley you listen to, the more amazed by him you will be.
Everyone thinks they know Bob Marley, but after 20 years of listening, I'm not sure he isn't the greatest live performer that ever lived, and one of the greatest songwriters ever.

Peter Tosh's albums Equal Rights and Legalize It are absolutely essential pieces of music.

If you have cable put it on the Reggae music channel. You'll get a wide mix of old and new from John Holt and the Skatilites to Buju Banton and Capelton. Write down what you like and go get it!

.
I'm with you on this.

Also +1 on Groundation, for some jazz inspired soloing, odd times etc.

Midnite is a fantastic group as well.

If you like Bob Marley, I'd suggest checking out the late Joe Higgs. He was a mentor of Marley's and a very big influence.

Junior Reed
Linval Thompson
Barrington Levy (of course)
Half Pint
Augustus Pablo
Don Carlos & The Mighty Diamonds
Johnny Osborne
Eek-a-Mouse
Martin Campbell
Cedric I.M. Brooks
Mikey Dread
Yellowman
Wailing Souls
Sophia George

Just a few in my collection..........

Of the above, I'd start off with 70's era Barrington and explore from there.........
