American Tele Weight ??

I just weighed my Highway 1 telecaster.
It has an alder body w/ rosewood.
8 1/4 lbs ...does this seem pretty damn heavy or what?
I also weighed my Fender Jazz Bass. 9 lbs. (that seemed pretty light...hhmm)

I had an AmDlx Tele that was 8-1/2 pounds. That's on the upper range for an alder Tele I'd say.
I now have an '08 AmStd Ash Tele that is about 7-1/2. I like it much better.

Does it sound good, play nice? That is what matters, not the weight.

Basically what Chris said, if you like the way it plays and sounds and your back is ok with it, who cares?

+1 on sound. My ash tele weighs a bit more than 8 lbs but I also have locking Schalers which add a bit.

Those guitars usually weigh around 8 lbs. Rare to find them in the 7 lb. range.
