Exclamation Fender Road Worn prices

I've been keeping up to date on all the RW threads and it seems that a lot of folks have purchased these at the $949.00 price. I also read that they've gone a low as $749.00. So I called my local shop, which sell competitively, the other day to confirm this and they said, "Yeah man $749.00 no problem, we got them all in stock".

So I'm wondering why so many people here are paying the full price when they don't have to?

$949 is about 20% off list... In this economy, I don't think
it's a realistic price... I bought one but didn't pay that... $749
new seems like a great discount for new (38% off list). I've seen
about 5 or 6 go down on ebay at $700 in the last few weeks. If
you can cherry pick the best one, go for it...

When I decided to take a look at the Roadworns, the price at the store was $950. I found a guitar that I couldn't put down and I decided to buy it. It would have been nice if that guitar had been priced at $750, but it wasn't an option and I wasn't leaving the store without the guitar.

You've got the best of all possible worlds if your shop is selling them for less money and if they have the whole line for you to compare.

So soon, discounted to $ 749.00?

This can't be good, no way. They should've loss lead them, at $ 699, and then built the price up the way they are doing the CV guitars.

I don't think I'd have received them differently at that price, but I believe a lot of folks who've grown cold to them would still be on board. I mean, what kind of current reputation would the CVs have had they started them at $ 499? What I'm saying, that's all.

There are a couple out there apparently. I have read 3-4 threads on Road Worns here that have name dropped stores selling them at that price.

I guarantee you won't see them advertised anywhere at that price.

The stores selling them for $750 have been selling them for that price all along.

I wasn't aware that people were growing cold to these guitars.

That's true. In fact a couple weeks back, Grandmas music and sound(I think thats the name) was advertising them online for $749.00.

Haven't heard that yet either.

I bet I could walk into any GC and tell them that the other stores are selling them at the $749.00 price and would be able to walk out with one for that same price. Just bring the phone number of grandma's music with you in case they want to verify it.

If you find one you dig, get the best price you can for it. Mine caught me by surprise, and 2 other Roadworns walked out the door while I was giving mine a workout. I was GOING leave with that guitar. I had zero plans to buy this guitar, but 1 month later I can honestly say that this guitar still does more for me than all of my high end guitars I've owned.

I'm VERY sure that a Roadworn isn't for everyone, and I also have no doubt that each Roadworn is different.

Give them a try and see what you think.

I've absolutely "grown cold" to these guitars, without ever having played one. Any notion of "hey, that's a nice guitar - wonder how it plays?" has long ago been superseded by "I don't have that kind of money."

+1 i went in very skeptical, but some of them are really great guitars. I've gigged a few shows already with my olympic strat with rosewood board. .. and it's "all that". light, resonant, stays in tune, rugged, sounds great, even looks pretty cool. the perfect "bar gig" guitar for me.

I wouldn't really call that "growing cold" to these guitars.

If I had $750, I would certainly be willing to give one a try. Some people are really digging these guitars. Even those with high end stuff to compare them to.
