Concerning The Cream

We all know that Sunshine and Tales of Brave ulysses are the hits on Disraeli Gears --- but i am a bigger fan of We're going Wrong and SWLABR.

Which of the two do you prefer? and why.

SWLABR is, IMO, the best Cream song of all time. Comines everything great about them. Bruce's bass, a great descending riff, tasty solos....

I'm a much bigger fan of SWLABR. Like Christopher said, it showcases a lot more of what they were capable of. The guitar solo is perfect for the song IMO, the bass line is what you would expect of Bruce (which is awesomeness), and the drum beat is fun to listen to. It's just a more fun song for me. We're Going Wrong is great but I would much rather listen to SWLABR.

We're Going Wrong all the way. Clean build up, intense vocals from Jack and smoking understated lines from Clapton, building to a Marshalls on 10 chorus. What more could you want?

I have a version from the RAH reunion and the intensity is still there. Always loved that song. Love the steady as a clock highhat from Ginger.

SWLABR is great too, but more of a novelty over the years. Much more pop sounding.

Don`t mean to be 'picky' but with respect to a great classic band, they were/are "Cream" not 'The Cream'.

Both songs are good--tough decision.

WGW.

Jack's voice simply melts me, and that song is a very strong example of why.

And the drums! WOW!

There's something extra special about hearing the announcer on the BBC show saying "the Cream..."

She Walks Like A Bearded Rainbow For The Win.

I think it can be either Cream or The Cream. I have seen the band advertised tons of places as "the Cream". And i have heard Clapton call them The Cream, as well as many of Clapton's peers.

I love 'em both for all the reasons said here, but the understated building of intensity in We're Going Wrong is a clincher for me. They were so clearly in a very special zone on that recording. That song has always grabbed me from the album.

And they've definitely been referred to as The Cream.

But Strange Brew really takes me back to that time period. If I were going to cover one of the three it would be Strange Brew...I wouldn't even consider trying to cover Bruce's vocals in WGW.

Nice responses and a close poll.

Although I love to play SWLABR and its definitely one of Clapton's best solos on the album...WGW gets my vote simply for the SONG. Its just an impressive momentum builder and really shows off the band's talent just a little more.

And it never fails to get me interested. I turn on SWLABR and i just jam. But when i turn on WGW I really listen. Just awesome.

Both great songs but if I had to choose right now it would have to be:
"We're going wrong"
