Update, 2 weeks after the fret level, crown polish... it still feels like shit. It seems the neck has gotten a some relief in it even after the setup. I'm about ready to give up on it. Never will I buy a newer Fender again. USA, Mex, Jap whatever.. F' em. The thing that pisses me off the most is when I called and asked about warranty work, the dickwad that I talked to seemed like it was no big deal for me to drive 7 hours one way to a "Authorized" repair center. My suggestion to people that work hard for their money. Stay far far away from these guitars. Maybe the wood is green or something but I would take back my 950 in a heartbeat. I was all hyped about the gtr when I first bought it. Now I feel like a fool. I might send them a nice letter. I'm going to have my luthier take one final look at it. Like I have all the time in the world...*Rant* It should be called a Road Caca.

I feel for you. I've been following your posts on your Roadworn, and it leaves me wondering if the only problem with the guitar is the way it feels. If the guitar's neck was stable would you like the guitar? How is the sound?

You seemed to really like the guitar after your tech did the setup. There has to be something about the guitar that you enjoy. You've also mentioned that you're not thrilled with the 7 1/4 radius. Maybe this radius is so close to not working for you that any change in the neck will always bother you.

Why on earth did you not just take the thing back to begin with ???? Clearly this was not working out for from the get go...

Just to clarify - so I know what your basis of comparison is, how long have you been playing guitars, how many have you owned ?

Now wait a second. Maybe I'm missing alot of info, but you're making statements like that because the neck needs to be adjusted? Dude, necks need to be adjusted and that's a normal part of setting up a guitar!?!?!?

Agree with the above...

I think you just don't like the guitar and have buyers remorse...

Sometimes it takes a while for the neck to settle down after a neck adjustment, it may need a couple more tweaks before it stays put.

But if you don't like the guitar, take it back or sell it.

Or - I'll take it off your hands for small fee.

i'm not sure if i'm lucky, or just have lower standards/expectations, but i have been VERY happy with my RW strat. My top guitar priorities are:

Feel/Weight
Tonal variety
Stays in Tune
Resonant

and my Oly strat excels in these areas. The relic job is decent (at least on mine) and as I have said before, it's my most understated/least flashy guitar I have owned. A total workhorse strat, just what I wanted

I have a 50's Strat. I really love it.
It gives me shivers how wonderful it sounds and feels.
I pick it up before my American Deluxe every time.
Maybe I just got one of the good ones.
There must be some good ones right?

I picked up the ash bodied '50s RoadWorn Tele last night and I openly admit I'm in the honeymoon phase... But so far, man! It sounds freaking great.

I "get it" when people don't like the relic thing or think $1k is too much for anything not made in the USA. But I don't get it when people say the RoadWorn guitars suck or are huge pieces of crap. That really doesn't compute with me.

To each his own, I know...

Chris

The Roadworns are just really good guitars that bring a feel and vibe that, until now, you had to pay a HUGE sum of money for. The relic treatment and price (for its country of origin) have combined to make it an easy target for people that are looking to find fault.

I'm certain that if this guitar had simply been a MIM version of the US Vintage series with nitro and shiny parts, it would have been the hit of the year at the same price.

Good points.

I just changed the strings to D'Addarios and spent a good hour with it through both of my amps. This thing does sound FANTASTIC. I've been convinced for a while that thinner finishes really do matter (alot!) and now I'm even more convinced. You can hear the wood in this guitar. Very nice.

I need more time, but I'm already thinking about picking up a RoadWorn Strat.

Crazy talk I know, but my Roadworn Strat is THE guitar I've been looking for.

I just love it. It's more special to me than any of my boutiques or Custom Shops.

I've changed a few things to make it exactly they way I want, but I was really blown away by the guitar from the moment I picked it up.

I played a nice 2TSB 50's today.
Nice guitar...neck was a bit thin for my taste.
Both teles in stock needed work though.
