thickness of road worn 60's strat neck?
can anyone who has one of these please tell me the thickness at the 1st and 12th frets? One more: is the neck shape similar to a Warmouth Standard Thin?
Thanks much in advance! |

anyone? I want to advise the wife of a buddy who likes them. She wants to buy him one, but wants to be sure he'll like the neck.

Go to one of those other row-dworn threads (there's about a million), find some guy who indicates he owns one and PM him. It's a shot...

If it is any help the neck on the RW is a little bigger/thicker than the new American Standards, I am going from memory here as I do not own one but have played many.

"Soft V" which is probably a thicker neck than their standard "C" but mainly its a feel thing. According to this it's also a 7.5" radius, which also affects the feel of a neck in your hand.

He was asking about the 60's, not the 50's. Spec just says "C" shape.
In my experience with RWs in the store, it's on the small side of medium with a lot of shoulder. A pretty accurate early 60's profile, actually /rick |

As I mentioned in your other thread that a dealer measured several of them and they all averaged right around .813" deep at the first fret. I didn't ask about the taper, but the one I played didn't have a lot of taper, so it stayed slim. But it felt good. Didn't feel skinny to me. He said they're very consistent. I found that hard to believe since MIM stuff is all over the place. But he sells a bunch of them on ebay and has been through a bunch.
