Mexi Road Worn vs. USA Standard - not much price difference so .....
Why would I want to pay nearly the same money for a guitar that is Mexican made than American?
Why would I not pay a little extra and get the American version? Why am I that jaded? Am I the only one who thinks like this? Is thinking like this wrong? I guess it's all personal preference but sometimes practicality has to trump the personal perference or us guitar guys just can do that? Where am I going with this - I don't know. |

Can you show me where the two prices are the same?
I thought the US Standard was quite a bit more than the RW. Linkys? |

Some strongly believe that the tone produced by a nitro finished body is superior to that of a poly-coated body.

I have both guitars. Compared to my MIA '08, I am surprised by the more vibrational energy resonating from my RW. I can literally feel this guitar resonate against my ribs and left wrist, and can certainly hear a slightly more fuller and muscular tone.
I am actually pleased by the sonic difference between both guitars. The MIA has a tighter, snappier edge while the MIM RW has more warmth, roundness and sizzle. The MIA had a terrific setup right out of the box, alas the RW needed fretwork and a few other issues addressed. The MIA has a 9.5 radius, MJ frets and has a buttery low action, whilst the RW has a 7.25 radius, 6105 frets and sports a medium action. Both Strats are great guitars.

Nice post, Walt!
That's it in a nutshell. which guitar between the two has the features you prefer and which one feels right in your hands and which one can best recreate the sounds you want to hear when you strap on, plug in and play? Sure, I'll always buy the USA if things are essentially equal but at some point you gotta immerse yourself enough in the models you might buy and if you do, you'll quickly sense some strong differences. That's why I'd tend to buy the AV USA models over the AS ones, and the Classic Player and Classic MIM models over the other MIM models. |

In the case of guitars I think the practical thing IS to go with personal preference. You're saying one guitar is more practical than the other from a point of view other than spending your money on the guitar you like the best? |

A quick google shows that most of the American Teles are more like $1300. My RW was $839. For a difference of $461. Which is more like 50% more than the RW. |

Prices at GC stores go up to MAP pricing on April 1st. Ash will follow. If you want Fender stuff and need to get it new, get it now. No SPAM here. Just lettin you know.
Road Worns will stay the same price.
