The best DIY pedal forum is not diystompboxes, as there is far too much censorship there. In keeping with the theme of restricting knowledge, the best diy forum's name is actually unmentionable and censored here as well (if you type it out it registers ***************.com or something like that). Doug Hoffman's forum is the best I've found for amp building and troubleshooting. Drama-free too.

I disagree. Diystompboxes is the best all-purpose DIY effects forum. There is a huge wealth of knowledge there. The forbidden forum is great for finding out what's really inside boutique pedals, but other than that, diystompboxes wins, IMO.
