Traynor YCS50...combo or head?

Hey Traynor YCS50 amp users...which do you prefer...the combo or the head, and why??? I'm considering getting one of these and have 2x12 cab, but was thinking about getting a combo, which, of course, I can route through my 2x12 if I need the extra "kick" a larger cab can bring...what are your thought?

It's almost 100% dependent on what your needs are. In essence, it's the same amp either way, it just boils down to what configuration makes the most sense for you. I have the head and love it.

I'd get the YCS100 H... if you want lower power, you can switch it to 30W Class A... it's a BMF amp for sure

My Avatar G212 Vintage cab has Scumback speakers (one 25w, one 30w), so I'd better keep it on the 50W max range...100w might blow the cones!

The combo has 5881 power tubes and the head has EL34 power tubes... the head also has an additional gain stage on channel 2 (the clean channel) for really getting a good crunch sound. You pick.

I definitely lean toward the EL34 (or E34L) tubes...and classic crunch is where I dwell most of the time...I guess I'll look into a head!!!

You put EL34s in the YCS50 combo as well and re-bias it. Check the manual

This is what I've done, and it's great. I put Ruby EL34BSTR's in it, wow!
