okay so what's the difference between deluxe reverb transformers??

tell me what the difference is between say a 75 deluxe reverb output transformer and a 65 deluxe reverb output transformer?

informed sources tell me that is the main tonal difference between a silverface and a blackface dr.

Fender output transformers from the 1960's (and 1950's) were wound on a cardboard "paper" bobbin, and were of particularly good design and build quality.

Transformers from the 1970's were wound on a nylon bobbin, and by the late 1970's, many were not as good a build quality.

Does paper vs nylon make the difference? IMO, no, since neither conduct electricity and both are invisible to magnetic fields.

In my experience, a silverface Deluxe Reverb from the early 1970's can sound just as good, if not better, than a blackface one from the 1960's.
