You just take yer regular ol' blues scale (plus 6 and 9 passing tones) and move that minor third up a half step, making it a major third. There, yer done.
Kind of kidding, but then again, come to think of it, that's how I learned it, more or less. Best, Jay |

Play along with 'All Blues' from Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis.

Isn't the second chord in that Im7 rather than IV7 (G7 -> Gm7)?
I've been working out of a book of Charlie Christian transcriptions, which has some great basic '40s era Mixolodian licks and runs. I think there are three blues in the book, all are great solos. I think Wolf Marshall did the book. |

While this may be more rock than blues (and some might consider it cheesy), Peter Frampton's guitar solos and riffs in "Do You Feel Like I Do?" are totally mixolydian and they seriously rock.

Doesn't BB (and most blues guitarists) actually play a "blue" 3rd? Meaning, a minor third with a slight bend towards major? Not mixolydian in the true sense.

The only time I use straight-up Mixolydian is in some Latin music. Hardly ever in blues; there's too much going back and forth between the flat and natural thirds.
