Johnny Lang on Leno

Anyone else catch this? I thought it was great!
What's that amp he's using?

Nice, what ever happened to him? He released that gospel cd (I liked it) and have not seen him do anything since.

lol, I watched that and wondered about the amp too. I really liked his performance.

Just watched it again and I'm pretty sure he said cavalry instead of Calvary.....the one time Calvary would have been correct...(sigh).

That was killer, I'll have to go out and get some of his recent stuff; I love the fusion of blues, gospel and R&B. This clip reminded me in some ways of Sean Costello.

BTW, the amp looked like either a Swart, or an old Valco, or Gibson. Soudned like one too!

Met Johnny a few years ago. Really nice guy, had several vintage Esquires with him, cool guitars too.

He has had a DVD in the works for a few years now. He recorded it live at the Coronado Theatre in Rockford, IL. He has had some battles with his label about it. They are hoping within the next year to be able to put it out. It was a really good show.

It looked like one of those old Gibson EH150 amps from the late 40's-early 50's. It had that rounded suitcase look. But I could be wrong. I haven't heard Lang recently and was pleasently surprised.

Sorry, but I didn't think his tone was anything out of the ordinary.

i thought it was a great performance (and i am one who thinks johnny lang can sing a little bit too forced at times).

i dug the 335 sound thru the little amp, it was a cool sound, not a hard sound to achieve but certainly a tone you dont hear everyday on late night tv either.

Nobody's tone is good on leno or other Tv studios.
But the song was great!

Very nice. For someone like myself who plays a lot of black gospel, it's nice to see it get some prime attention on a show like Leno.

Lang went through some tough stuff a few years back, found a new perspective and is living his life now with a completely different purpose. A+ class guy.

I also thought it was refreshing to see that on one of the late night shows.
I always record the shows on my DVR to check gear and performances.
I usually hit delete before the songs are finished but that was cool.
