Is this a regular thing MF does once in a while, or is the reality of Fender of ridiculous price hikes and the recession coming to bare?

The problem here is you really need to try these before you buy. There are some real gems and then others that are eh.

These guitars do not come with hardshell cases. They come with gig bags.

Are you sure about that detail?

Sounds like it's just a special they're running. I think it's a great idea for them to throw in a Tweed case with these. Perfect match......I'd have to play the guitar before I bought it though. I want a RW Tele bad, but I'd have to find the right one by playing a few.......

Not real impressed with the case they are including.

Rather buy the right guitar in person, drive the hardest bargain I can. Buy the case once I'm sure I'm keeping the guitar.

I have not yet been impressed by the concept of beating the hell out of a really good (USA-made) guitar, and then pricing the piss out of it in the market, attempting to convince consumers it is "all-that"... whcih to me, relics are not...

And I doubt very seriously if I am going to swallow Fender's now Mexican-made flavor of the same reliced junkers...

I have a business proposition in mind... that with only a Dremel Moto-Wheel as a tool (and maybe a sledge hammer)... I could start a "Ferrari Relicing Service"... yup... bring me you million-dollar Ferrari, or any brand of high-dollar over-priced sports cars... Lotus, bring some Bentleys or Aston Martins... heck, I'll even relic your Cadillac if you like...

For a nominal fee of course...

I can make any car look like it had been on the circuit with NASCAR for 72 years... lot's of mojo possibilities in reliced sports cars... I could become a nationally-reknowned sports car relicer...

Then the fad would spread to all manners of transportation... like airplanes... Boeing and McDonnel Douglas would be sending me contracts to relic passenger jets and war planes... wow... and just think how cool a reliced railroad boxcar would be... no more of this fancy paint and pretty finish on railroad boxcars... with a simple dremel wheel, and a sledge hammer, I could make any brand new box car look just like it was from the World War 2 era...

I'd be a freaking millionaire....

hahahahah

No Mexi-relics for this guy... sorry.... weekly special or not.....

"Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them." On the weekly special makes it even more beautiful.

I went to my local guitar shop (won't name any names) and told them about the MF special. Since the special isn't advertised they didn't have to match it, however they did sell me the guitar for $799. I got the gig bag, they didn't include a case but I did get to play the actual guitar I bought. I had to pay tax though, that's never fun.

When they were blowing out the last of the 2008 EJ Strats, didn't it just take a photocopied receipt to get other GC's to match the price? Couldn't someone do that here? It's not like GC and MF aren't the same company anyway... man, I feel like it's just a matter of time before I bring home a RW Strat.

Some people don't care what a guitar finish looks like. Most people that buy RWs do so because they play and feel great and sound good. Id much rather have a great sounding poorly finished guitar than a crappy sounding perfectly finished guitar.

Sometimes Im amazed how many people obsess over perfectly finished guitars raher than be concerened with how they feel and sound.

Rws are for players, not collectors that like shiny things.

Im not a fan of relics either but I would still get a RW if I had the cash and needed another Tele.
