Got a Fender Roadworn Tele the other day...

And I like it. Alot. The tone is very nice, the neck feels killer, etc...

I like it so much, I'm now GAS'ing for a Roadworn Strat.

Hey that looks just like my friends new RW Tele!

Just kidding, he played all in a store, picked the one he liked best and it feels great! He said it "sounds more like a Tele than most Teles".

Now he also wants a RW Strat. If it's anything like the Tele, it'll be a winner.

I looked at one a few weeks ago and although I didn't get to plug it in I was impressed with how light it was and how it sounded acousticly and the feel of the neck. It felt like an old guitar that had been played by some very good guitar players. The only thing I didn't like was the finish on the neck, it didn't look like "real" wear

Fender RW's are actually very good guitars, and seemed to get a lot of bad press on the forums for some reason. The relic'ing is very well done, and the necks are fantastic. The Tele you have there is a real winner -love the blonde finish. Congrats.

Congrats. These can be had for a LOT less than the MAP pricing tossed around. Good guitars for the buck.

It was between that or a Baja tele for me, I went with the Baja because it has more options, but the RW was really close, sometimes I wish I would have picked the RW.

Thanks guys. I am really liking this guitar right now! I'll get more quality time with it this week, but so far it's a winner! It's hard to put down, which is obviously a great sign.

I actually think the relic'ing is great. Well, except for the pickguard. I don't really like the texture and relic'ing on the pickguard, but that's a minimal complaint. I think I'll put a black pickguard on it anyway. Anyone know where I can get a relic'ed pickguard?

What's a "neck pocket lip?"

The paint is sunk into the wood all over the body and it's not smooth like say a Highway 1 Tele.

Thanks! I'm seriously considering picking up one of the '60s Roadworn Strats (when I say things like that, it usually means I'll have one in 2 days or less - LOL!)

Pretty sure he talking about the little extra body wood you feel sticking out on the side of the neck. Gives you some wiggle room if you want to adjust the neck in the body, sometimes gives you a gap on the other side of pocket or this "ledge" on the other side.

Or maybe he's talking about the "router hump" but I don't think so.

early 50s bodies had a lip under the neck heel. AFAIK nobody does this accurately besides Fender CS. At some point they started to sand away the lip. A lot of people that pick up Nocasters see the lip and think its a POS because of it when really its attention to detail.

Router hump is cool too! Right at the 21st fret at the beginning of the cutaway a hump should be present, up till 1964....Sadly while refinishing my CIJ 52 body I accidently sanded my router hump away

BTW that thing screams put a black guard on me!
