Screaming Panda Rocks! (review and pic)

I received the Stomp Under Foot "Screaming Panda"
in the mail a week ago and have been loving it!

With the gain set low it gets a nice overdrive with a flat midrange, a good clear well balanced tone. The overdrive/distortion has a nice refined tone to it, no fizzy crackly artifacts in the background.

Turning up the Gain yeilds a thicker more saturated distortion while remaining a nice articulate attack.
With the gain around 3/4 of the way up and beyond the character changes and gets very fat!
Think Smashing Pumpkins etc. A fat and fuzzy distortion that I really enjoy. Full and well balanced. The sound made me want to play and play...

There is a good amount of volume level on tap and the tone control cuts the high end but doesn't destroy the feel of the gain settings by removing too much. It takes off the edge nicely. At the lower gain settings the tone control removes the high sheen for a slightly less glassy sound. At high gain settings the tone control rolls back the high harmonics generated and has more of a cut (more high harmonics are generated via high gain.)

So at any rate, the Screaming Panda rocked me! This pedal would work for a lot of rock and punk styles. SInce the Gain settings produce two very distinct tone changes it's almost like you get tow pedals in one. Odd how the higher gain settings get so fat. I'm not compalining at all about that though...

The fit an finish of the box is great, powdercoated and screenprinted controls. Looks very pro...

I'm curious to try out the "Mean Green Machine" now.

Matt was very helpful and answered my questions when I ordered.

Check out this box if you can, I really dig it.
Here's a pic of mine chillin' in the sunset

No problem Matt. I really dig the pedal so I thought I'd spread the word.
I'm going to pick up the Mean Green Machine soon. The clips sound nice!

I think people are really going to like the Panda.

I have been thinking of doing two Screaming Panda pedals in one but altering each one so you can get two different types of sounds then use them both when you want.

Maybe a two-way toggle switch to change the order of the pedals for stacking Similar to the Fulltone GT-500.

Or a footswitch for that to make it easier while playing. I will draw this out and see what I can come up with.

Use a 4PDT footswitch, and it'll be cake to flip-flop the effect order. :AOK

It looks like it is going to be a Mean Green into a Panda. the Mean Green is going to have two different clipping stages so you can adjust how much OD gain pushing the Screaming Panda.

I totally forgot about this thread. Are you looking into creating one pedal with a MGM and Panda combined? Cool!

I'd love to see 2 MGM's together. Dual Green Machine. Or Matt's distortion w/ a foot switchable boost after it.

He makes great pedals.

I'll definitly order a screaming Panda this week-end! Just discovered SUF and I'M charmed. All the demos are very well sounding and can fit the empty hole on my board between my tuner and my muff! Punks be ready, the war will be insane!
