I've just started digging into them, but they're great - they're very punchy. I play rock/pop music and it seems to work really well for that style (atleast on the few kits I've used thus far). They have a wide variety of kits, so I'm pretty sure there's something there for everyone. What's nice is that they have included so many different kits all with that one bundle, so they don't try to get additional money from you with different style bundles.

How do you use them? As a sound replacer or can you map them out in a sequencer? I'm guessing you could also use a midi keyboard to actually play them.

All the above. You can use them for replacement(drumagog), SSD comes with the kontakt player now also so you have that. Groove Monkey is also mapped out for SSD, so you got loads of midi files there to play with. I've been with SSD from the beginning and have yet to pay for a single upgrade(except for shipping). Definately worth having in your arsenal if you do alot of drum work.

I run a commercial recording facility and highly recommend Steve Slate drums....absolutly top notch pro samples....beutifully recorded and processed with the best gear in the business..(the Slate girls arent bad either).....the majority of my work is for mixing....steves sample have saved my ass many times with poorly recorded kits. I use drumagog to do all my sample replacements.

The samples on the homepage seem great. The only problem I have found is it seems they're going for the radio rock sound. Is there any type of brushes? I'm a huge fan of Steve Smith's and Chad Wackerman's drum tones. Something really natural for Jazz and Fusion. Is there any not so compressed snare drum sounds?

I absolutely "love" SSD's! I was fortunate to get in on the ground floor when his program launched. Currently have everything and use it daily for all types of drumming.

Highly recommended!

I love Wackerman's drum tone on this DVD. It just sounds so real and in the room with you.

I was hoping I could achieve something like this with SSD.

Or this. Listen to the snare.. it doesn't sound all rock like and super compressed.

Do you think SSD can do stuff like this?
