NGD, something a little offbeat

My new black Eastwood Airline Map! I'll be honest: the visuals are what got me right away. As I researched it a bit more, though, I really liked what I was hearing on the specs, so I decided to try one out!

The nut came poorly cut, with high E not being low enough so that it buzzed against the zero fret. I fixed the nut up with some files, a razor, and some graphite and it's much better now. The neck pickup is pretty good, the bridge pickup is terrible, and the pots are those little junky ones. The action was fine out of the box (nothing amazing, but certainly playable) and the feel is great, though. I love the neck - closer to a 50's than a 60's - and the chambered, contoured body is way more comfortable than I was expecting, given the unorthodox shape. It has a nice, jangly, resonant acoustic tone that makes it pretty fun to play unplugged.

Overall, I'm very happy with it. It just needs some new electronics and it'll be great!

Cool beans! I got to try the whole Eastwood line out last month and was quite impressed with the way they all felt. Each one had a great feel to it. Once I plugged them in I wasn't the biggest fan, though, as I prefer brighter sounding guitars. The Eastwoods, Airline in specific, were super dark to my ears.

Very cool! I've been a bit tempted to get one of those myself. I wonder how it would sound w/ a set of TV Jones Filtertron style pickups in there?

It's like you're reading my mind. I'm trying to figure out how to get a pair of TV Jones Classics in there and still have it look good.

LOL! TV Jones now makes the Classic in what they call the English Mount. It is supposed to be a direct drop-in for humbucker guitars, even comes w/ pickup rings to fit the Filtertron style pickup.

He also makes (made?) a TV'tron which is a Filter'tron in a HB sized cover. I put some in a friend's Ibz 175 copy and they sounded pretty good.
