Probably a good question asked another way. How about ..."what makes the pre-factory guitars worth so much more?"

I suspect that the OP didn't mean anything by the question. Based on his location, I suspect that the OP doesn't speak English as his primary language.

Hey, give the nubee a break. "what makes the pre-factory guitars worth so much more?" is not what he asked. Maybe he's just trying to sort through all the phony sellers BS who claim that their PRS is pre-factory when in fact it isn't.

Why do you say 1994? They were still at Virginia Ave in Annapolis then - they weren't really up and running in Stevensville until the beginning of '96. Here's a card I got at that time, shortly after stopping in the "old" factory:

I have a '95 Standard 24 Goldtop. I wonder which factory it was made at?

If you are a new or old fan of PRS guitars I highly recommend checking out The PRS Guitar Book.
It's very entertaining, has tons of interesting history, and it's loaded with great pictures. http://www.amazon.com/PRS-Guitar-Boo...1422351&sr=8-1

The original PRS designs went through some changes over the years so if you want an original one the market for them is out there and established.
Prices on the early ones have gone up which is not suprising to me at all. There are definitely folks who are really into the 80s Custom 24s, Standards, and CEs...myself included. These instruments just do it for me. Everything was aligned just right for some guitar magic to happen I guess. ![]() As great as the original guitars are though I am very much into the guitars PRS made in the 90s and the 2000s as well...and I for sure am not alone in this love of PRS guitars from each "period" or whatever you want to call it. They were making amazing instruments on day 1 and they have continued in that way nonstop up until the present day. Over the years PRS has consistently come up with some fantastic new models. I anticipate that going forward PRS will keep producing amazing instruments and designs. So if you get to check out one or two or many 80s PRS guitars then cool...but definitely check out 90s ones and the modern ones as well...because they all are pretty sweet in their own way!

![]() Maybe I expressed myself wrong, english is my 4th language I meant to ask why are they more expensive, and what year did they change to 'factory' |

"Pre-factory" refers to guitars made before PRS moved to the current factory location in Stevensville, MD. This occured in '95 (I think).

The Virginia Ave factory from '85-'95 was still a factory. The "pre-factory" days are really the '75-'85 handmade guitars, in many people's minds. |
