Warmoth neck with SS frets - question

1) I just strung up my new neck. This is my 3rd Warmoth neck, but the 1st with stainless frets. There is scooge on them that has to be cleared by bending. I thought that would not happen. I be puzzled. Is this normal?

2) There's always something, right? I've had them do a nut before and I was happy with it. This time, my 1 5/8" nut width came in on the small side. The other two were more like 1.650", which I believe is the 50's spec. Anyway, they chose a narrower string spacing than I like. The high E is probably a conservatively reasonable distance from the edge of the fretboard. The low E could move .040" closer to the edge -- just something to keep in mind when ordering.

[reply to below] unfinished pau ferro fretboard on a pedestrian maple neck. On previous necks from Warmoth and USACG, I have been able to set the action lower than I like without needing fret work. It's probably the luck of the draw though.

No, I didn't. I've played the scooge out before and it was fine.

No kit neck is good to go without at least a polish .
Warmoth frets are only installed nothing other then trimming the ends is done .You need to fret dress and polish to realise the full potential .

I always

I always get my necks without a nut and have them installed with a fret level and dress. this should be standard.

I have 2 Warmoth necks, and have had zero fret issues. A luthier (Jxxxx) at Gryphon in Palo Alto, Ca said he walked through their shop a few years ago, and said they have a pleck machine....can anyone confirm this? I believe the guy for what it's worth, and he is great at what he does, so.....

The neck I just bought last week has fret issues...I'm pretty disapointed. Every other neck I've gotten from them has been outstanding. They may have a plek but this neck hasn't been near it!

An invisible film which impedes the bending of a string across a fret. The frets felt smooth to the touch, but stringing it up showed that as was mentioned, I should have polished them first. I didn't know. I figured stainless might be different out of the box.

No Plek at Warmoth,
You need a Guitar to run a plek .

Scooge? Did you get a maple neck with a maple fretboard, with a finish on it? Do you mean the finish that is sprayed over the frets? I have 5 Warmoth necks, all with stainless frets, and have had no issues whatsoever.

Guy's that are complaining about the frets on their Warmoth necks... what part about "no fret dress" do they not get?

As said in this thread before, they don't normally do a fret dress just put the frets in and roughly trim them. Maybe you can have it done, but it will cost you extra.
