I am not liking my Modfactor

I only read good reviews and discussions about the Eventide Modfactor. I have been trying really hard to enjoy playing the pedal but it has yet strike a chord with me (no pun intended). I like tweaking but I don't like spending hours finding a nice warm tone I am happy with and I just haven't fallen for it... Maybe it is too much for me as I still think I had more fun with my Line 6 MM4. Anyways - I bought it because I am blown away by the features but I am not so blown away by the sound.

Am I the only one? Just curious if there are others with doubts.

I LOVE the timefactor, but bought and sold the modfactor... Like you I tried to love it but just didn't. I think they made a mistake not putting a filter/tone knob like they have on the TF. Some of the MF patches were great ( i really dug the vibrato and the rotary speaker )....but the chorus I felt was sterile and somewhat cold as well as some of the other patches

Interestingly enough the timefactor gets great warm, lush, analog sounding chorus ( i can duplicate the sound of my retrosonic chorus with it )....IMHO much better than the modactor....

So you are not alone....

The weakness is certainly the chorus. Vibrato, trem, and rotary were very good I thought.

I would agree... I find myself using only teh vibrato & trem. I don't use rotary sounds much.

I just got a Diamond Vibrato... couldn't resist and I had some extra cash surprisingly.

I think the modfactor is a good deal for some who really want to have the feature set but I think I will collect the few mod pedals I need and be happy with that.

Wow....I'm getting some really good chorus sounds out of mine. Found some great settings here at TGP.

i have gone through several MM4's cause i love em to death, but i convinced myself there was something else out there. i bought into a modfactor. thought there was something to it, but could never get it to work for me. 'sterile' was the word that came to mind. i'm not a HUGE tweaker, but i'd like to think i know what good tone is. couldn't find it in the modfactor. timefactor and pitchfactor are GREAT! love em to death, but i'd take a MM4 over a modfactor any day (any day i don't need tap trem but thats what the goatkeeper is for).

We're all so different.
I really like the MF, but really only use It for trem, phase and Flange.
I have a M13 and can tweek It all day and the modulation to my ears can't come close to the MF. To me the M13 sounds same as the MM4.

I owned all 3 Eventide Stomp Boxes and the Timefactor is a blast, the Pitchfactor is so amazing that i bought a second one to have one at home and one on my live/rehearsal board and the Modfactor is the only eventide Pedal i sold and used just barely! The sounds are really good but it was just too much for me, i like analog modulation boxes much more...

I had one and sold it. There are some good sounds in there, although I thought the chorus was weak, but ultimately it had two unsolvable problems. the interface is a nightmare, and only one effect at once.

Maybe what you really wanted was a Damage Control Glass Nexus...

The Diamond Vibrato is absolutely awesome! I love pitch vibrato and it just gives a very organic feel to your tone.

Try one if you can.

I am selling my Modfactor this weekend. Pedals I am looking at... tremolo (cusack?), ring mod (moog), flanger (jacques), Trinity (jacques).

I love my Modfactor!

I had a hard time with it at first as I hated most of the factory settings, but once you start really digging in and adjusting settings, it's amazing!

Thinking of getting rid of my modfactor. Any opinions on how the modfactor's rotary compares to it's competitors, i.e. the HK rotosphere. But, overall not impressed, just too much for me.
