vintage Fender head into 2X10 8ohm cab?
I have a Winfield 2X10 cab with Eminence 10516 speakers (75W) wired in parallel for 8ohms being delivered shortly. And while it's primarily for my Winfield Cyclone head, I was wondering what old Fender heads would work with this cab, for gigs where I need more volume. I've been looking at the BF Tremolux (only 4ohms) and the BF Showman (8ohms). Will these heads, or any other old Fender heads, work with this 8ohm cab? Thanks for any input/info.

Well with a zmatcher from weber ohms won't be a prob and most fender amps won't blow those speakers- mebbe an evil twin would tho!

Jahn,
Thanks for the input. Oddly enough, I already have a Zmatcher, but I was wondering if any of the old Fender heads would match directly with the cab (one less thing to cart to the gig via public transit or taxi, as I live in NYC). Also, I didn't know if some of the larger Fender heads (Showman, Bassman) might be too much for two 10"s, as opposed to two 12"s. |
